Do What You Love

I quit my job today…and I feel damn good about it! For nearly 3 years I sat and worked my ass off in an office that had absolutely no room for growth. A few people I know who worked there for 10 plus years were still doing the same thing they were doing as when they first got hired. I clocked in Monday through Friday at 7:45 a.m. and clocked out at 4:30 p.m. Very repetitive and boring to say the least. I was making little to nothing and probably would have been better off working at McDonald’s being that the employees there actually get raises. Let’s just say the only time I got a raise was when minimum wage went up..along with gas prices, grocery prices, and eventually rent. My hard work went unnoticed for almost 3 years. In addition to this, I was absolutely miserable. I dreaded waking up everyday to go to a job that was..well..shitty for lack of better words. So, I quit! I was fed up. I am bigger than working for someone who can really careless about my well-being. I’d rather work for myself and struggle (God forbid) than have a job where I am unhappy at. I have a passion for writing and see myself having a business and publication of my own. I see a future for myself, dreams and goals that are much brighter than a 9 to 5 working for someone else.Β I want to work and have a career doing what I love, not working FOR a person who has a career doing what they love. Simple as that.

There are a number of people who feel the same way that I do when it comes to doing what they love. Some of these individuals are still at the job looking for a way out. Well I’m here to tell you: You are your way out! Life is passing you by, dreams and passions are wavering away while you’re giving your time and hard work to someone who created a company because they felt the same way as you feel now. Success starts with self. What is your passion? What do you see yourself doing? Answer those questions and then go do something about it. I’m not saying go quit your job without a plan. That would not be wise unless you just can’t take it anymore and you KNOW you’ll be alright πŸ˜‰ Do what you love, not just what you have to do. Create an escape for yourself, one that will make you happy.

One of the things that I’ve learned from life is that happiness is self inflicted. What we do for the majority of our day plays a major role in our happiness. I had a job that payed the bills and rent, but I was far from happy. Either I stayed at my job wasting away, or I got the hell out before I got too comfortable to go pursue my dreams. I prayed about it and in the end I know it was the best thing for me and my happiness. As I sit here writing, doing what I love, I know without a shadow of doubt I made the right decision. And I am already evolving! How many people do you know that are happy, not content, but happy working doing something that they do not want to do? If you are one of those people, make a change for yourself. Figure out a plan and do it. Weigh out options, think of ways to begin, have a system of support. The first thing to do is find the answer to “how,” the “when” will surely follow.
